Al Ahli vs Al Gharafa
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 13 March 2018
Kick-off: 18:15 CET
Al Ahli touched the 3X3 last week, they were leading 1-0 at Al Gharafa when the 90 minutes were concluded, but conceded a goal in added time, and dropped two points. Not a huge deal, they are still leading in the group, on seven points from three matches. On Friday, they beat Al Quadisiya 1-0 away from home, a huge victory (despite the fact that their rivals are close to the bottom of the table), as Al Hilal lost their game, meaning that the gap between them is now just one point. Al Hilal are still leading in Saudi Arabia’s championship, but with three games remaining, the title race is absolutely open. Last but not least, Al Ahli still have to host Al Hilal, in something less than a month from today.
That added time goal Al Gharafa scored last week, didn’t make a huge difference to Al Ahli, but it sure did to Al Gharafa. It pushed them to four points, as many as second-placed Al Jazira, whom Al Gharafa still have to host. Wesley Sneijder scored twice last weekend when they beat Al Sailiya 3-0 away from home. The best they can finish in Qatar’s championship though, is 4th. Two games are left, and they are seven points behind third-placed Al Rayyan. Al Gharafa are considered outsiders in this game, but the timing looks great for them. They have five wins and one draw in their last six matches, domestic competitions and AFC CL combined, and that draw was against Al Ahli last week.

Al Ahli vs Al Gharafa: Head to head Stats
Al Ahli have hosted Al Gharafa twice before. They lost 1-0 in 2010, and beat them 2-0 in 2013 (both AFC CL group stage matches).
Al Ahli vs Al Gharafa: Prediction
Al Ahli’s win pays just 1.53, which gives you an idea how big favourites they are considered to be, to beat Al Gharafa. Personally, I’m leaving their win aside, I’m betting on goals, partly because on Friday they have a “must-win” game in their league, and in the AFC CL they are sitting relatively comfortably at the top of their group table.
Al Ahli vs Al Gharafa: Betting Tips
“Under 2.5 goals” is a bet I like, at 2.15, because I don’t expect Al Ahli to… die trying to score more than once, win 1-0, or even draw 1-1. Given how things are in the group, and also keeping in mind their “must-win” match coming up on Friday, I feel even a 1-1 draw would be ok for them.
