Atletico Mineiro vs Coritiba
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 19 November 2017
Kick-off: 22:00 CET
“Both teams to score” and “over 2.5 goals (with both teams scoring)” were my two tips when Atletico Mineiro visited Vasco da Gama a few days ago, and I still cannot believe that this game ended only in a 1-1 draw. A shot and a header on the post for Vasco, a shot and a header on the post for Atletico, seven-eight huge chances missed (not counting the four posts), and… 1-1(!), a point that left Atletico 11th. Most-most probably they will be in the Copa Sudamericana next season, but mathematically they are still hoping for a Copa Libertadores ticket (qualifiers, not group stage), counting on Gremio and Flamengo to win the Libertadores and the Sudamericana respectively this season. A disappointing Serie A campaign for Atletico, taking into consideration their roster. Sure, competition is fierce in Brazil’s top division, but still, a team with Robinho and Fred, even past their prime both of them, should be higher than 11th.
When I started writing my predictions/suggestions regarding Coritiba’s game against Flamengo the other day, at first I felt like minimizing the risk, suggesting their double chance and their win in “draw no bet”. What was… kind of funny was that as I was writing those lines, I caught myself thinking that I should trust Coritiba a bit more, and give less credit to Flamengo, keeping in mind how well Coritiba had been doing lately, and how horrible Fla’s record away from home had been for many weeks. That’s how I added Coritiba’s win at 2.50 (without the safety net of “draw no bet”) the last moment, and the risk paid off, as the Parana side won the game indeed, 1-0. Truth is though, Flamengo played one of their best away games of the season, and deserved at least a point, while Coritiba took the lead super early (8th minute, thanks to Cleber Reis’ second goal of the season – in 12 appearances), but spent the rest of the 90 minutes focusing on their defense, hardly visiting Fla’s box again. Three more points for Coritiba, who have now stayed undefeated in their last seven matches, having won four of those. They are 14th, but not entirely safe yet, as the first team below the relegation line are four points below them.

Atletico Mineiro vs Coritiba: Head to head Stats
Atletico have beaten Coritiba 10 of the 11 times they’ve hosted them since 2004! Three of the last five games went over 2.5 goals.
Atletico Mineiro vs Coritiba: Prediction
Atletico are considered huge favorites to pick up all three points, but seeing how well Coritiba have been doing for weeks and weeks now (they are undefeated in their last seven matches), and also how well their double chance pays, I’m tempted to back the visitors to earn at least a draw.
Atletico Mineiro vs Coritiba: Betting Tips
Coritiba’s double chance is at 2.30 betting odds. “Both teams to score” is my other tip, and pays 1.72.
