Atletico Tucuman vs Oriente Petrolero
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 2 August 2017
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
Atletico Tucuman were impressive in Santa Cruz three weeks ago, they beat Oriente Petrolero 3-2 (despite going 1-0 down less than 120 seconds after the start of the game), but it’s not over yet. That match was the last one for Fernando Zampedri at Atletico. The 29-year-old center-forward moved to Rosario Central right after that game. He’s the one who scored Atletico’s winning goal in Santa Cruz , in the 89th minute. Bruno Bianchi, 28, a center-back, scorer of Atletico’s second goal in Bolivia, is also gone, moved – ironically – to the other Rosario club, Newell’s Old Boys. Atletico did sign seven players, defenders Jonathan Cabral and Franco Sbuttoni are expected to start the game and generally be regulars when the new season starts in Argentina, but especially Zampedri will be very hard to replace. Midfielder Mauro Osores got injured I training and his presence in the game is doubtful.
Unlike Atletico who haven’t played an official match since the first leg in Bolivia three weeks ago, Oriente Petrolero had the chance to… warm up for their trip to Argentina playing at home against Real Potosí on Thursday, on the first day of the new season in Bolivia. They won 3-1 (three goals were scored after the 88th minute!), receiving a morale boost just before flying to Argentina. Romel Quiñónez is Oriente Petrolero’s new goalkeeper. José Alí Meza and Deni Bejarano will be their center-backs, with the latter returning to action after spending months sidelined due to a serious injury. Another defender, Jhonny Mostacilla, also absent the last two months due to an injury, has been training properly for days now, and if coach Eduardo Villegas wants, he can use him. Goalkeeper Pedro Galindo got sent-off in the first leg and is unavailable. Either way though, he is expected to be Oriente Petrolero’s second goalkeeper from now on, after Quiñónez’s signing.
Atletico Tucuman vs Oriente Petrolero: Head-to-head Stats
Atletico Tucuman and Oriente Petrolero had not faced each other before their first leg three weeks ago.
Atletico Tucuman vs Oriente Petrolero: Prediction
At 1.44, Atletico’s win doesn’t appeal to me, for two reasons. First, they are a very different team to that of three weeks ago that won in Bolivia. Second, they don’t need to win, a draw will be enough, even losing 1-0 or 2-1 will send them to the next round.
Atletico Tucuman vs Oriente Petrolero: Tips
‘Draw or Oriente Petrolero’ pays 2.80, and I like it infinitely better than Atletico’s 1.44 for reasons already explained.
