Belgium vs Costa Rica
Competition: International friendly
Date: 11 June 2018
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
Belgium looked very effective in their last friendly game against Egypt on Wednesday, beating them 3-0, thanks to Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard goals in the first half, and a late cherry on top by Marouane Fellaini. It was their fourth consecutive clean sheet, and do keep in mind that all four friendly games were against World Cup finalists (Japan, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, and of course Egypt). They have stayed undefeated in their last 18 matches, starting this run in September 2016. Stats-aside, Vincent Kompany is still sweating over whether or not he’ll be ready for the first group match in Russia. He got injured in the friendly game against Portugal, and is anything but sure he’ll make a real impact in these World Cup finals.
Losing to England (especially on English soil) is no… shame, especially for teams of Costa Rica’s stature, but it’s not just that result that has cast several doubts over the Central Americans’ chances in these World Cup finals. They did beat Northern Ireland back home a few days earlier, but all in all, their performances and results since last October leave you with the impression that they rely too much on the… “day” factor. If they are on a good day, they deliver. If not, they don’t find ways to change the run of a game. They lack consistency, but then again, this is a three-match group, and a good first game can get you in rhythm for the other two. Costa Rica have scored four goals in their last six matches, but three of those were past a very weakened Northern Irish side, in San José, a week ago.

Belgium vs Costa Rica: Betting Tips
I wouldn’t bet on a simple Belgium win, I don’t find that 1.20 worth it, especially in a friendly game. “Under 2.5 goals”, at 2.00, is a bet I like. “Belgium to keep a clean sheet” feels very probable to me, but it doesn’t pay more than 1.44.
