Boca Juniors vs Alianza Lima
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 17 May 2018
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
Boca are third in their group, a single point behind Junior, which means that entering the final day of the group stage, they don’t depend on themselves alone. They need a result that will be better than that of Junior in Sao Paulo, against Palmeiras. If Junior lose, a simple draw will be enough for Boca. If Junior draw, Boca need to win. If Junior win, it’s all over for Boca, even if they beat Alianza Lima… 7-0. If Boca and Junior finish level on points, Boca will be second, and Junior will be third. Last weekend was the last day of the championship in Argentina, Boca won it for a second season in a row. Other than that, big news was the return of Fernando Gago. He played for about 60 minutes against Huracán, he had played with their reserves a week earlier, and Guillermo Barros Schelotto included him in the group of players who will be involved in this Libertadores game. Gago spent seven months out, due to – another – serious injury.
Alianza Lima are down and out in the Copa Libertadores, with zero chance of finishing even third, so as to play Copa Sudamericana football in the second half of the season. Pablo Bengoechea, their Uruguayan coach, was expected to leave some regulars behind, travel to Argentina without several key players, since they have zero interest (points-wise) in this game, but he rather surprised many by including all his regulars in the group that flew to Buenos Aires. The only one missing, is goalkeeper Leao Butrón, and that’s because he is injured. Alianza have just one point from five matches in the group, but interestingly, it was against Boca, at home, on the first day of the group campaign.

Boca Juniors vs Alianza Lima: Head to head Stats
Boca have hosted Alianza just once before, more than half a century ago, in 1966. The Lima side won that Copa Libertadores game, 1-0.
Boca Juniors vs Alianza Lima: Prediction
I can’t imagine Boca not winning this game.
Boca Juniors vs Alianza Lima: Betting Tips
A simple Boca win pays just 1.10. “Boca and under 3.5 goals” is at 2.37, and that’s my only tip. Alianza are already eliminated, but they won’t just sit and get humiliated (by a team that doesn’t need to win more than 1-0).
