Botafogo vs Gremio
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 14 September 2017
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
Big win for Botafogo last weekend, 2-0 at home over Flamengo, a result that has the team level on points with 6th-placed Cruzeiro, the last team to occupy a Copa Libertadores spot. Roger scored both goals for Botafogo, and after the game he didn’t hesitate to “provoke” his opponents, saying that Guerrero, Flamengo’s Peruvian striker, is “overestimated”. Botafogo beat Nacional (from Montevideo) twice in the round of 16, 1-0 in Uruguay and 2-0 in Rio de Janeiro, showing that they may not be the biggest Brazilian name in this season’s Copa Libertadores, but… they are still in it, eager to go as far as possible.
Up until three weeks ago many kept saying that Gremio were the team that played the best football in Brazil, despite being far behind Corinthians in the table. Fast forward to today, Gremio have just one win to show for in their last five matches, they got eliminated from the Copa do Brasil, and they failed to take advantage of Corinthians’ defeats in the championship. Last weekend they lost again, at Vasco da Gama, 1-0, looking below average. The timing feels bad for Gremio, possibly the worst they could be facing. They are playing against an in-form Botafogo side, while they themselves are possibly at their lowest since the start of the season.

Botafogo vs Gremio: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Botafogo and three for Gremio in the last five games between these two in Rio de Janeiro. Only one of those five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Botafogo vs Gremio: Prediction
Both teams are given practically the same chances to win this game. Because of their form in their last matches, I feel Botafogo are a bit closer to winning, but everything considered I’m leaving winners and losers aside, and I’m going with goals.
Botafogo vs Gremio: Betting Tips
I feel this is a game that will be decided by a single goal. Under 1.5 pays 2.40.
