Buriram United vs Jeju United
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 21 February 2018
Kick-off: 12:00 CET
Buriram United produced one of the surprises of the first game week of the group stage, earning a 1-1 draw at Guangzhou Evergrande. It’s true that in the first half they could be losing by more than just 1-0, but in the second half they made their fans proud, not just by equalising, but generally by playing the way they played, with self-confidence, determination, and a good deal of… balls. It remains to be seen if that draw in China against such a big opponent was an isolated case, or the start of a brilliant group campaign. Last weekend they beat Bangkok Glass 1-0 at home, thanks to a Diogo goal in the 73rd minute. Second win in as many games in Thailand’s championship.
I really wonder what Lee Chang-Geun, Jeju United’s goalkeeper, had in his mind in the third minute of added time last week, when he just… watched the ball bounce in front of him, instead of doing the simplest thing of all, reach out for it, grab it, finish Cerezo Osaka’s attack, give his team at least a point. Something… inexplicable happened in his mind, he froze, and Cerezo’s Mizunuma didn’t say no to the gift he was offered. Jeju United lost 1-0, having looked – truth be written – second best on the pitch for most of the 90 minutes. They did create a couple of chances, but none was a huge one, unlike a couple of Cerezo chances. All in all, a draw would have been slightly flattering for the Korean side, who need to improve a lot if they are to do anything remarkable in this group stage.

Buriram United vs Jeju United: Prediction
I’m thrilled to see Jeju United be considered relatively clear favourites to win the game, because it makes Buriram United’s double chance pay better than what I expected.
Buriram United vs Jeju United: Betting Tips
The hosts’ double chance is at 1.70. Their win in “draw no bet” pays 2.30. “No” in “both teams to score” is at 1.95, and suits my hunch that the game will end either 0-0 or 1-0 for Buriram United.
