Coritiba vs Ponte Preta
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 12 November 2017
Kick-off: 22:00 CET
From villain, to hero. Cleber Reis acted clumsy in the 55th minute sending the ball into his own net, equalizing on behalf of Fluminense on Thursday, canceling out his teammate Werley’s goal in the 44th minute. With the score at 2-1 though, it was Cleber Reis again who found the back of the net, only, this time, in the 70th minute, the RIGHT net, making it 2-2 for Coritiba. Interestingly, it was the 26-year-old defender’s first goal of the season, and one of the very-very few in his career so far. Coritiba are one of the three teams that have stayed undefeated in their last five matches, following a horrible run of no wins and just three draws in NINE games. They are sitting 15th in the table, three points higher than Sport Recife, the first team right below the relegation line. They have every reason to feel they will be playing Serie A football next season as well, not only because of that small gap on Sport, but mostly because of the way they have been playing for some weeks now, proving what many thought either way, that they are too good to get relegated.
Bad luck… Or simply, Marcelo Grohe. Ponte Preta created… seven? Eight? Maybe more than that, and in any case MANY chances to score against Gremio, some of those chances were… incredible, chances that leave you with the mouth open, wondering how the heck the ball didn’t go in, but what all those cases had in common, was the presence of Grohe in Gremio’s goal, and his impact on keeping Ponte Preta to nil. The Gremio goalkeeper repeated some of his heroics that gave his team the qualification for the Copa Libertadores final past Barcelona from Guayaquil, being absolutely spectacular. Ponte Preta lost the game 1-0, and are now left 18th, three points below Vitoria, the first team right above the relegation line.

Coritiba vs Ponte Preta: Head to head Stats
Four wins for Coritiba and one draw, in the last five games between these two in Curitiba. Three of those five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Coritiba vs Ponte Preta: Prediction
Ponte Preta have won just one game away from home the whole season, have lost their last four as guests, and are visiting one of the hottest teams in the league at the moment. At 1.85, I feel Coritiba’s win pays well enough, even though I do expect Ponte Preta to score.
Coritiba vs Ponte Preta: Betting Tips
Coritiba’s win is at 1.85 betting odds. Given that I expect Ponte Preta to score as well (“both teams to score” pays 2.00), I’d take the extra risk of betting on “over 2.5 goals” (2.15), and of course, “Coritiba and over 2.5 goals”, at 3.40. If I had to pick a specific score I’d go with 2-1.
