Coritiba vs Sao Paulo
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 26 November 2017
Kick-off: 20:00 CET
Coritiba traveled to Atletico Mineiro last weekend having four wins and three draws in their last seven matches, but were very unlucky to find opposite them an unbelievable Otero. The Venezuelan scored early in the match, and just after the half-hour mark he made it 3-0 with… probably the goal of the season in Brazil. The first half was pure nightmare for Coritiba, and the only positive that came out in the rest of the game was that the score didn’t get any heavier. Coritiba had scored in seven consecutive matches, there were games they had scored three or four goals, but in Belo Horizonte last weekend they didn’t even create a chance, really, they failed to create one real chance to score, they got that outplayed by Atletico Mineiro. They are 15th, not out of the woods yet, still threatened with relegation, but their chances of… survival are good.
Fourth straight game without a win for Sao Paulo, who missed four-five chances against Botafogo at Pacaembu last weekend, with none bigger than Pratto’s shot on the post, in the second half. If Sao Paulo had won the game, they would still be dreaming of playing Copa Libertadores football next season. Now, after picking up just three points from their last four matches, they have to compromise with “lowly” (compared to Libertadores) Copa Sudamericana. It has been a crazy season at Sao Paulo, starting with club legend Rogerio Ceni as coach, doing horribly in the championship most of the season, changing coach, picking up at some point, pushing for a Libertadores spot, but… generally, if I were one of their players, I would be craving for the end of the year, to leave this season behind, and start working on the next one.

Coritiba vs Sao Paulo: Prediction
Coritiba are considered clear favorites to win, but personally I’m backing Sao Paulo to get at least a draw. Actually, that’s exactly what I expect, a draw, but I’m adding Sao Paulo’s win to minimize the risk.
