Cracovia Krakow vs Slask Wroclaw
Competition: Poland Ekstraklasa
Date: 10 February 2017
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Unbelievable Cracovia… Five days after getting humiliated at home by city rivals Wisla (1-4!), they traveled to Zabrze to face one of the best teams in the first half of the season, and they didn’t just beat Gornik, they absolutely destroyed them, 4-0(!!), finishing 2017 in the most unexpected way possible. They are 12th in the table, Michal Probierz is still their coach, and did well, all in all, in their January friendly games. They signed Niko Datkovic, a Croatian centre-back, from Spezia, Matic Fink (right-back) from Rizespor (on loan, until the end of the season), Croatian left winger Antonini Culina, and two strikers on loan, Dane Nicolai Brock-Madsen from Birmingham City, and Latvian Deniss Rakels from Reading.
Slask started the season having all sorts of problems, mostly off the pitch, so to see them 10th, in the lower half of the table, but close to the top-8, is not really surprising. In their last December match they beat Jagiellonia Bialyston 1-0 at home, while just before that they had lost 2-1 at Nieciecza, rather typical of their ups and downs, losing to teams lower than them in the table, and pulling out positive results against teams higher than them. Jan Urban is still their coach, and rather rightly so, as… it’s hard to blame him for that 10th spot in the table. They signed German centre-back Tim Rieder from Augsburg on loan, but other than him, there were hardly any real changes to their roster, no surprise, since it’s well-known that financially they are not doing well, and spending money in January on strengthening their squad wasn’t really expected.

Cracovia Krakow vs Slask Wroclaw: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Cracovia, two for Slask, and a draw, in the last five games between these two in Krakow. Only one of those five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Cracovia Krakow vs Slask Wroclaw: Prediction
Important, potentially, detail; Cracovia are banned from having fans in the stands, after the ridiculous scenes in their last home game, the Krakow derby against Wisla. They are considered favourites to win the game, but I don’t see that. I’m backing Slask to earn at least a draw.
Cracovia Krakow vs Slask Wroclaw: Betting Tips
Slask’s double chance pays 1.90, exactly as much as Cracovia’s win alone, and I definitely prefer it much better, expecting the Wroclaw side to leave Krakow undefeated. Given that it’s the first game after the winter break, I would avoid taking bigger risks, would stay with that 1.90.
