CSKA Moscow vs Real Madrid
Competition: Turkish Airlines Euroleague
Date: 18 May 2018
Time: 21:00 CET
CSKA Moscow met quite the resistance in the playoffs against fellow Russians Khimki Moscow, but they eventually won the series (W3 L1). Coach Itoudis has done a great job since his arrival back in 2014, and he is now the joint-fastest coach to record 100 wins in Euroleague history. He has brought an impeccable work ethic to the team, and great experience as well, as he was Zeljko Obradovic’ assistant for many years. CSKA Moscow have traditionally played well in Serbian grounds and have also emerged victorious in eight of their last ten trips to the Serbian capital. Other than favorable team statistics, there have also been individual stand-outs in this city, with Hines and Vorontsevich having produced quite a few good matches here. In other good news, the team will feature almost a full roster, with De Colo, Hines and Kulagin having overcome their injuries and already match fit.
On the other hand, Real Madrid cringed when they were destroyed by Panathinaikos in the first match of the playoffs, but they showed great resolve to win the series (W3 L1). They have been in really top form lately, and they have also had much time to prepare. They had mathematically captured the domestic title for quite a while now, so that gave them the opportunity to rest some key players, and help others return to match fitness. Sergio Llull is back from his injury, and he is ready to contribute to the cause. Real Madrid’s weapon this season has been their size, and they should really use that advantage against a smaller CSKA Moscow side. The trio of Tavares, Randolph and Ayon is just too much to handle, and neither of the other two teams can actually match it, at least on paper.

CSKA Moscow vs Real Madrid: Prediction
So CSKA Moscow have the great history in this city, but Real Madrid have the size that cannot easily be matched. This is surely going to be a close match between the two sides, quite possible with a lot of points.
CSKA Moscow vs Real Madrid: Betting Tips
If Real Madrid can find ways to exploit their size advantage, then they can easily take this win as an underdog (@ 2.40). However, one cannot simply write off the Russians because they lack size. In any case, I will go with the +4.5 points for Real Madrid at this point, as they will stay close, even if they lose.
