Deportivo Lara vs Corinthians
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 18 May 2018
Kick-off: 02:30 CET
Unbelievable Deportivo Lara have every reason to feel proud of those six points they have earned, beating both Independiente and Millonarios in Venezuela. They are third in the group table, level on points with Independiente. It’s the Argentines they will be visiting next week, but looking at their record away from home thus far, it feels highly unlikely they’ll get anything from that game in Avellaneda. Corinthians are a huge rival, Brazil champions, Paulista champions a month ago, but Deportivo Lara have proven they have the guts and the skill to get any job done at home, even in a very competitive Libertadores group.
Interesting (I reckon) details; Corinthians were struggling to find commercial flights (that didn’t involve two or three flights) to reach Barquisimeto, so they spent over 300,000 euros to charter a plane. This sort of “luxuries” come with being… Corinthians. Plus, fearing that the conditions at the hotel won’t be… adequate, they took with them all necessary ingredients for all the meals they’ll have while in Venezuela, and, of course(…), their own chef. Last weekend, Corinthians beat Palmeiras 1-0 at home, a… special victory, given that games against their Sao Paulo rivals are more than just… 90 minutes with three points as a trophy. Right-back Fágner, one of those called-up by Tite, Brazil’s national team coach, for the World Cup finals, didn’t travel to Venezuela, troubled by a not particularly serious injury. Fábio Carille has the rest of his players at his disposal. Corinthians are leading in the group, on seven points from four matches, but they are not safe yet, they can finish anything from first to… last.

Deportivo Lara vs Corinthians: Head to head Stats
Corinthians’ 2-0 win in Sao Paulo earlier this season was the first game ever between these two.
Deportivo Lara vs Corinthians: Prediction
Deportivo Lara have been awesome at home thus far, and Corinthians have the last group game at home. These two make me feel that draw is the most probable result, without ruling out a narrow Deportivo Lara win.
Deportivo Lara vs Corinthians: Betting Tips
The hosts’ double chance pays 1.95, better than Corinthians’ win. If I bet on goals, I would go for “under 2.5”, but it doesn’t pay more than 1.60.
