“Under 3.5 goals” two weeks ago, when Feyenoord visited Manchester City, was at 2.37 betting odds, and was my only tip, sharing my hunch that City would “just” beat Feyenoord, and not “humiliate” them. Actually, it was an 88th-minute goal (the only of the match) that finally downed the Rotterdam side. They are 5^th in the table, 14 whole points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven.

Seeing that a simple Napoli win over Shakhtar Donetsk two weeks ago wasn’t paying more than 1.45, I suggested “Napoli to win and keep a clean sheet”, which was at 3.00(!), because betting companies expected the Ukrainian side to score. Napoli won 3-0, closing the gap on second-placed Shakhtar to three points, and having the advantage over them in case they finish level on nine points. Napoli do not depend on themselves alone, that’s the… sad truth for them. They need to do their… duty, beat Feyenoord, even by just… half a goal, but at the same time, they need Manchester City to beat Shakhtar in Ukraine, they need Guardiola and his players to look as serious as they looked when they visited them, in San Paolo, earlier in the group stage. Last weekend, the Partenopei lost 1-0 at home to Juventus, their first defeat of the season in Italy’s Serie A, that cost them the top spot in the table, as Inter leapfrogged them, leaving them one point behind.

If City do beat Shakhtar in Ukraine, and Napoli fail to beat Feyenoord, they will be… banging their heads against some wall for weeks, months… Can’t imagine Napoli not winning this one, despite their… hurt morale, after that 1-0 defeat to Juventus at home last weekend.
