Flamengo vs Fluminense
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 2 November 2017
Kick-off: 00:45 CET
Flamengo beat Fluminense 1-0 last week at the same stadium, Maracana, looking… not necessarily better, but with rather better psychology. You could tell by the body language of all 22 players that Flamengo’s were… feeling better, which of course has a lot to do with the fact that they scored relatively early, in the 27th minute, with Éverton. They are doing way better than Fluminense in Brazil’s championship, they reached (but lost) the Copa do Brasil final, they have good chances to play Copa Libertadores football next season even if they fail to win the Sudamericana, and all in all they looked more… self-confident. Not that they have already qualified, but still, they have the advantage, the better roster, and the better psychology to finish the qualification off without waiting for the last minutes of the return leg. Last weekend they drew 0-0 to Botafogo, a… poor result, with Rueda making just two changes to his starting lineup. They are 7th in the table of Brazil’s Serie A, a position good enough to give them a ticket to the Copa Libertadores qualifiers next season.
As previously mentioned, Fluminense players looked like they had their morale pretty low last week, and it only got worse during the weekend, when they failed to beat Bahia in Rio de Janeiro, a super important game for them, given that they are too close to the relegation zone. Abel Braga made just two changes to his starting lineup, compared to the first XI of the game against Flamengo, but even so, even playing with his best possible lineup, they were 1-0 down less than three minutes into the game, and all they managed was to salvaged a point. Fluminense are 14th in the table of Brazil’s Serie A, just four points higher than the relegation line.

Flamengo vs Fluminense: Head to head Stats
One win for Flamengo, two for Fluminense, and two draws, in the last five games between these two with Fla as hosts. Three of those five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Flamengo vs Fluminense: Prediction
I expect Flamengo not just to qualify, but to win the game as well.
Flamengo vs Fluminense: Betting Tips
Flamengo’s win pays 1.78. I would stick to that. For more than 1.78, Flamengo to win and keep a clean sheet as well is at 2.55 betting odds, and I like it because Fluminense’s players look… rather resigned.
