Guarani vs Carabobo
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 6 February 2018
Kick-off: 23:15 CET
Guaraní looked disappointingly poor in Mérida last week, but in all fairness they did play with 10 men for almost an hour. Luis de la Cruz’s red card could be used as a bigger excuse for the Paraguayan side’s poor performance if they hadn’t looked similarly – way – below average in the first 32 minutes, while they were still playing with 11 men. Actually, given how the game went, Guaraní could have gotten into much bigger trouble, losing by a bigger score. Last weekend they were a totally, absolutely, 101% different team, thrashing Sol de América 6-2 in their Paraguay Apertura debut. They dominated in the first half, went 2-0 up, got somewhat worried early in the second half when Sol de América made it 2-1, but the last 20 minutes were… a dream of any Guaraní fan, as their team scored one beautiful goal after another. All in all, it was a very… useful night for Sebastián Saja and his players, as it “reminded” them how good they can be.
To reach Asunción, Carabobo had to first reach Cúcuta (Colombia), then catch a flight to Bogotá, another flight to Brazil, and one last flight to Paraguay’s capital city. Exactly because they had such an… endless trip ahead of them, they got… excused, and their game last weekend against Estudiantes Caracas got postponed. Last week, in Mérida, where they had to play as hosts since their own stadium (600km away) doesn’t comply with CONMEBOL regulations, they did win 1-0, they earned a significant advantage, but given that Guaraní were playing with 10 men for about an hour, someone could claim that the Venezuelans actually missed a huge opportunity to, more or less, finish the qualification off. Their roster is not as good as Guaraní’s, they were 1-0 up by the time their opponents lost a player, they had an hour to… do something about it, but… At least they kept a clean sheet, something that may prove decisive in Asunción.

Guarani vs Carabobo: Head to head Stats
Last week’s game was the first ever between these two.
Guarani vs Carabobo: Prediction
Guaraní are considered that big favourites that their victory pays just 1.40. I do expect them to win, most probably to qualify as well, but 1.40 is not really tempting.
Guarani vs Carabobo: Betting Tips
If you’re after small odds and bets that have way above average chances of coming good, go for Guaraní’s win, even at just 1.40 betting odds. For much more than that, I would risk with “over 2.5 combined goals”, at 2.20, and even better, “Guaraní and over 2.5 combined goals”, at 2.60. I won’t be surprised if Guaraní are 2-0 up by halftime, which most-most probably will lead to a third – at least – goal in the second half.
