Internacional vs Chapecoense
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 22 May 2018
Kick-off: 01:00 CET
Gremio’s coach, Renato Portaluppi, called Internacional “a small team, a Série B team” (to be exact, he said they “played like a small team”), after that goalless draw in Porto Alegre’s huge derby. Truth is, Inter played with… 10 players defending in one third of the pitch, making it all too obvious that their first, second, and third priority was not to concede. At the end of the day, their… cynicism earned them a point. After the final whistle last weekend, Andrés D’Alessandro, Inter’s… emblematic Argentine, had a strong and long exchange of words with Luan, Gremio’s biggest star. D’Alessandro is still under “investigation” about that incident. “Funnily” enough, on Friday he was handed a two-match ban for something he did in the game against Flamengo, so he will miss this game, and also the one versus Corinthians, next weekend. Right-winger William Pottker is also banned (different incident, same game, against Flamengo). On the other hand, central midfielder Edenilson is back from injury, and is expected to start the game. Inter are on five points from as many games.
Chapecoense have just had their best week of the year, thus far. Last weekend, they beat Flamengo 3-2 at home, taking the lead three times, last one in added time. It was their first win in five Série A games. Midweek, they drew 0-0 to Atlético Mineiro at home, in the return leg of their Copa do Brasil round of 16 tie. On penalties, Chape did better, qualifying for the quarterfinals. It’s the first time since the start of the year that Chape have a real reason to feel content with themselves. They got eliminated in the Copa Libertadores qualifiers losing twice to Nacional (Montevideo), lost their State championship to Figueirense, spent the first Série A month without a victory, but now they have an awesome week to build on.

Internacional vs Chapecoense: Head to head Stats
Inter have hosted Chape just three times before, all the last four years. Two games ended in a goalless draw, and Inter won the one back in 2014, 2-0.
Internacional vs Chapecoense: Prediction
Inter are considered big-big favorites to win, but Chape have just had their best week of the year, so I’m backing them to earn at least a point in Porto Alegre.
Internacional vs Chapecoense: Betting Tips
Chape’s double chance pays an incredible (for a double chance) 2.60! Even their +1.5 Asian handicap is decent, at 1.50.
