Jaguares de Cordoba vs Boston River
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 11 April 2018
Kick-off: 00:15 CET
Big-BIG day not only for Jaguares de Córdoba, the club, but for the whole city, Montería, not the first (or second, or third) name that comes to your mind when you think of Colombian cities. Founded just six years ago, Jaguares are playing their first international game ever, in what is a big celebration for them, and proof that the people who took the initiative to start this project in 2012 were not… lunatics, they really saw potential, and went for it. Jaguares qualified for the Copa Sudamericana finishing 8th last season in Colombia’s championship. In 13 Apertura matches in 2018 they have earned 15 points, sitting 15th in the table. They have been struggling offensively, scoring just eight goals in 13 games, less than any other team in the championship. Their last game was on Friday, a 2-4 home defeat to Envigado. They were playing with 10 men since the 63rd minute, when the score was still at 1-1.
Boston River are not newbies in the competition, but… they’re pretty close to that. Their first appearance ever in an international competition was last season, and what a debut they had, beating Comerciantes Unidos at home, in the first round of the Copa Sudamericana, qualifying for the next round with a draw in Peru. Cerro Porteño were nothing like the Peruvian side in the second round, beat Boston River twice, but still, the Uruguayans left the competition with their head held high (having scored in all four matches). They are competing this season in the Sudamericana having finished 6th in Uruguay’s championship last year (combining both halves of the season). Last Friday they lost 0-3 at home to Fénix, after three consecutive draws in the championship. They are on 14 points from 11 matches, sitting no higher than 11th in the table.

Jaguares de Cordoba vs Boston River: Head to head Stats
This is Jaguares de Córdoba’s first – official – international game ever.
Jaguares de Cordoba vs Boston River: Prediction
Jaguares are considered rather clear favourites to win the game, but their form this season is not… inspiring any confidence in them. I prefer to bet on goals, seeing both teams’ poor scoring record in their domestic leagues.
Jaguares de Cordoba vs Boston River: Betting Tips
“Under 2.5 goals” is at 1.53 betting odds, and it makes sense, seeing how much both teams are struggling to score in their domestic leagues. Pushing it a bit, I would risk with “under 1.5”, at 2.62. Deep down I expect a goalless draw.
