Japan vs Paraguay
Competition: International friendly
Date: 12 June 2018
Kick-off: 15:05 CET
It is not looking good for Japan, it is not looking good at all… Four friendly games these last months, one draw with Mali(!), three defeats, with two of those being against teams that won’t be in the World Cup finals (Ukraine and Ghana). A few days ago they lost to Switzerland as well. The fact that they faced a good team could make their defeat easier to swallow, but their performance was below-par, nothing to boost their hurt morale right before flying to Russia. They have been disappointing for some time now, and despite their good roster, they make it really difficult to trust them to do well in the finals. They haven’t scored in their last two games, (the last 10 days), and have scored just twice in their last four.
Honestly, I’m left perplexed seeing how the Paraguayan FA do things… The World Cup qualifiers ended in October. They let the November FIFA window pass without a friendly game, and back in March they played just one, against the United States, losing 1-0. That’s it; one – friendly – match in eight months, and, wait, because it gets better… They are still to appoint a new full-time coach. It has taken them months and months and months, and they are still to agree a deal with a coach who will take over full-time. It feels as if the FA have left the national team… aside, dealing with it as an “issue” that will… be worth their time only when the next Copa América (2019) will be right around the corner…

Japan vs Paraguay: Head to head Stats
Japan and Paraguay have met eight times in the past, all between 1995 and 2010. Two wins for Japan, two for the South Americans as well, and four draws. Total goals, five for the Asians, 7 for Paraguay.
Japan vs Paraguay: Prediction
Japan haven’t won a “serious” friendly game (playing with their first team) since October, but I trust them to win this one. By the way, the game is held in Austria.
Japan vs Paraguay: Betting Tips
Japan’s win pays 2.75, that’s my main tip. Their double chance is at just 1.46.
