Lechia Gdansk vs Pogon Szczecin
Competition: Poland Ekstraklasa
Date: 13 December 2017
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Opportunistic Flavio Paixao found himself at the perfect spot to take advantage of a major mistake made by Gornik Zabrze’s goalkeeper, and give Lechia Gdansk at least one point last weekend, away from home. Lechia needed a bit of luck to leave Zabrze undefeated, but should be noted that they managed to limit Gornik to a rather surprising extent. The Ekstraklasa leaders create a whole bunch of chances in every single game, but against Lechia, they looked somewhat… blocked, especially in the second half. Important point for Lechia, not so much because it makes a vast difference in the table, but because it is… something, to leave the home of the leaders undefeated.
If someone, somehow, watched an Ekstraklasa match for the first time in his/her life last weekend, when Pogon Szczecin hosted Zaglebie Lubin, he must be craving for more. Six goals, some of those impressive, dramatic ups and downs, added-time equalizer, passion, nerves, everything. Not that Pogon could care much about all this, as they missed an incredible opportunity to pick up all three points. They played their best 45 minutes of the season (the first half), probably the best 45 minutes of… the last couple of seasons combined, going 3-1 up(!). They hadn’t won since August 19(!), and because of Świerczok, the Zaglebie striker who scored a hat-trick, the right tense is “they haven’t won a game since August 19”. Gutted… Pogon’s players and fans must be absolutely gutted, seeing their efforts go… not exactly wasted, but definitely not getting the maximum of what they deserved from this game.

Lechia Gdansk vs Pogon Szczecin: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Lechia, one for Pogon, and two draws, in the last five games between these two in Gdansk. Only one of those five matches (the most recent one, last May), had more than two goals (five!).
Lechia Gdansk vs Pogon Szczecin: Prediction
Lechia are considered clear favorites to win the game, but I have serious doubts. In any case, I see goals from both teams.
Lechia Gdansk vs Pogon Szczecin: Betting Tips
“Both teams to score” pays 1.83 and I like it a lot, mostly because of Lechia being one of the two teams of the match, rich in offensive talent, but generally vulnerable at the back. “Over 2.5 combined goals” pays somewhat better, 1.95. As you can see, I’m avoiding betting on winners and losers, I consider the game too tricky for that.
