Libertad vs Sport Boys
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 17 May 2017
Kick-off: 02:00 CET
Libertad can be… proud of being the only team in the group to have beaten Atletico Mineiro, and also… embarrassed for being the only one to have dropped points to Sport Boys, in that crazy 3-3 in Bolivia, on the first day of the group stage. They are out, even mathematically, they are five points below second-placed Atletico Mineiro, so this game is just a good opportunity to finish the group leaving some more good impressions, whatever they are worth. Domestically, after two defeats and a draw, they finally returned to victories last weekend, winning 1-0 at Nacional. Despite dropping many points the last month, they remain first in the table, one point above second-placed Guarani.
Sport Boys have been taught several hard lessons in this group, Atletico Mineiro alone scored a total of ten goals against them in two games, but no matter what, it has been a huge experience for the modest Bolivian side. Being busy in the Copa Libertadores rather cost them in the Bolivian championship as well. They are just ninth in a 12-team league, having won just one of their last five games. Last weekend they lost again, 5-2 at Nacional Potosi, despite taking the lead, and despite equalizing 2-2 early in the second half. Ecuadorian center-forward Carlos Tenorio became a few days ago the first one to end his contract with the club, who look determined to empty more space in their roster as soon as possible, in an obvious attempt to lower their budget.
Libertad vs Sport Boys: Head-to-head Stats
Their game at Sport Boys earlier this season was a memorable 3-3. It was also the first match ever between them.
Libertad vs Sport Boys: Prediction
Libertad may have just one win in their last five games, but still, they should win this one, and the game should have several goals. They are playing against a team that have conceded 18 goals in five games, and scored a few themselves.
Libertad vs Sport Boys: Tips
Libertad’s win is at just 1.20. Libertad and over 2.5 goals pushes that up to 1.72. For more than that, I’d risk an ‘over 2.5 goals and both teams to score’, at 2.50, first because it’s much better than 1.72, and then because Sport Boys have scored in all but one group games, and this specific match will be played by two teams with zero pressure to earn points, whatever that means about how tight Libertad’s defense should look.
