Liverpool vs Tottenham
Competition: Premier League
Date: 11 February 2017
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Things just don’t seem to be easing off for Liverpool, after being booted out of two Cup competition, and slipping down to fifth on the log, they are now having to prepare to face a Tottenham side that is one of the form sides in the competition.
Liverpool have not won a game in their last five encounters with three draws and two losses coming out of it. It has been a really poor run of form across all competitions and there is no guarantee that it is going to change as Spurs can cause havoc to a wounded Liverpool side. They lost to Swansea first, which was a shock to say the least, but then they fell most recently to Hull which really was surprising and signaled warning bells for Jurgen Klopp and his side. They are also only one point above eternal rivals Manchester United, so another loss here could well see them overtaken this weekend.
Tottenham had a bit of a speedbump in their charge to chase Chelsea, with two draws, but it did not cost them much as they managed to stay in second and that position was helped when they snuck a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough which was what was all that was needed. They are still a full nine points away from Chelsea, but they are the last team to beat the Blues and will feel the race really is in their hands as the ones who look good enough to chase the Blues should they slip up any more. The key to Spurs’ revival has been their goal scoring matching up with their defence, and with Liverpool’s defence in tatters, this could be a real perfect chance to drive a stake into Liverpool’s aspirations.
Liverpool vs Tottenham: Head-to-Head Stats
A game where there is plenty of history as this will be the 50th playing of the encounter, but still one that is comfortably dominated by Liverpool as they have 22 wins of the 49 played thus far, and there have also been 14 draws. Meanwhile Spurs have won 13 games and the first game they played this season at White Hart Lane was a 1-1 draw.
Liverpool vs Tottenham: Prediction
Liverpool would have enjoyed a game against one of the bottom ranked teams to try and right themselves, but baring Chelsea, this is the hardest opponents they could face and they will battle to get it right against a polished Spurs side. Tottenham will take advantage of their poor defence and they will probably score a good fre goals.
Liverpool vs Tottenham: Tips
Expect Spurs to win, and to score at least two goals. Liverpool may get one, but that will only make Spurs try and score more.
