Millwall vs Preston North End
Competition: England Championship
Date: 13 January 2018
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
It’s not an exclusively… Millwall thing, but it’s a phenomenon that feels more frequent there than at other teams. I’m referring to their inconsistency, which takes them from a remarkable high to a disappointing low from one game to another, and in some cases, from one… half to another, during the same match. In their last Championship game they were 1-0 up at Norwich City at halftime, but lost 2-1. Last weekend, hosting Barnsley in the FA Cup, they went 1-0 down, but found the way to turn the situation around, triumphing 4-1. They are 15th, six points above the relegation line and six points below the middle of the table. At home, they have four wins and a draw in their last five matches, scoring a total of 12 goals. They conceded in all games but one, though.
It was a game against a League Two team, but not even that makes Preston’s 5-1 at Wycombe Wanderers any less impressive. Half a dozen Championship teams failed against teams from lower divisions last weekend in the FA Cup, and the fact that it was an away game for Preston makes their five goals and win even more remarkable. That 5-1 was important for psychological reasons as well. Preston had just lost at home to Middlesbrough, their only defeat in their last 11 matches. They needed to bounce back, and they did so in style, making… poor Wycombe Wanderers pay for that. They are 9th in the Championship table within striking distance (three points) from 6th-placed Leeds United.

Millwall vs Preston North End: Head to head Stats
Millwall haven’t hosted Preston since 2013. It was an FA Cup match, which the hosts won 1-0. Two years earlier, Millwall had thrashed Preston 4-0, in a Championship game.
Millwall vs Preston North End: Prediction
I find it very interesting how Millwall are considered slight favourites to win the game. The odds for both are pretty similar though, which gives you an idea how tight the match is expected to be. Millwall have four wins and two draws in their last six home matches, Preston have exactly the same record away from home lately, which makes predicting anything even more tricky. All things considered, I feel draw is the most probable result.
Millwall vs Preston North End: Betting Tips
Draw pays 3.20. Preston’s double chance is at 1.55 betting odds, and deep down I do expect them to leave The Den undefeated.
