Nacional Asuncion vs Mineros de Guayana
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 15 February 2018
Kick-off: 23:15 CET
Nacional got absolutely destroyed by Independiente de Campo Grande last weekend, lost the game 4-0 looking incredibly poor, but amazingly, they could still get all three points, as the hosts used a player who wasn’t(?) eligible to play. Nacional turned to Paraguay’s FA, and seem to have decent chances of being awarding the points. Their ridiculous performance was nothing less than a shock, just a week after impressing at Defensores del Chaco against reigning champions Cerro Porteño. Back then, everything they touched turned into gold, and won the game 2-1. Last weekend, the more they tried to fix things, the worse they made them. Adam Bareiro, their young striker, seemed incredibly… lonely, enjoying very little support from his teammates. Last season, Nacional reached the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana, succumbing to later winners of the competition, Independiente.
Mineros de Guayana won the Copa Venezuela last season, and that’s how they secured a spot in the 2018 Copa Sudamericana edition. Last time they took part was in 2013. They eliminated Barcelona from Guayaquil, but then fell to Libertad, another Asunción side. Three weeks ago they won the Copa Bicentenaria in Venezuela, beating Monagas on penalties in the final. They also started the championship with back-to-back wins, but last weekend they lost to Portuguesa, the only team on nine points after the first three game weeks of the season. They were playing away from home, but spent the entire second half having a numerical advantage after Portuguesa had a player sent off, so… maybe, just maybe, they should have done better.

Nacional Asuncion vs Mineros de Guayana: Prediction
Nacional were just… horrible last weekend, and “horrible” doesn’t really do justice to how bad they were, but I do expect them to bounce back in this match. If it were against another opponent, I would have more doubts, but against Mineros de Guayana they should find a way to win the game, and, most probably, by two goals.
Nacional Asuncion vs Mineros de Guayana: Betting Tips
A simple Nacional win pays just 1.45. Unlike last weekend, when their defence was a joke, I expect them to… shape up and keep a clean sheet. “Nacional to win without conceding” is at 2.05 betting odds.
