Panathinaikos vs Asteras Tripolis
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 10 March 2018
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Panathinaikos… satisfied many people with that goal they scored last weekend at Olympiakos, minutes before the end. They drew 1-1, giving their fans a reason to celebrate, but also those of… PAOK and AEK. Panathinaikos’ double chance was at 3.00(!), that was my only tip, even though I did mention that draw (4.20) felt much more probable than a Panathinaikos win. Even 3.00 was great though, so… The “Greens” are 8th in the table, on 31 points, just one behind three teams. What’s ironic is that despite their c o u n t l e s s problems this season, off the field, financial problems, institutional problems, right now, five games before the end of the season, they would be 5th, on 33 points, if they hadn’t started the championship with minus two points. I feel they deserve respect, the players who are still there, the coach, the few people at the club who are genuinely trying to find solutions, ever since the main shareholder abandoned the ship, early in the season.
I’ve been staring at the laptop screen for a few minutes now, not knowing where to start from, referring to Asteras Tripolis’ 3-2 win over PAOK last weekend… They scored three goals past a goalkeeper who had conceded one in his 10 previous appearances. They scored three goals past a team that had conceded just eight in their previous 23 Super League games combined. Fifth minute of added time (the referee had given seven), Matías Iglesias fouled Aleksandar Prijović in his box, penalty (the Asteras player admitted there had been a contact), 2-2. A minute later, with PAOK pushing for the winner, it was Iglesias who made it 3-2, wrapping up one of the craziest games Greek fans have watched this season in their Super League. Asteras are 7th in the table, but level on points with those sitting 5th and 6th.

Panathinaikos vs Asteras Tripolis: Head to head Stats
Three wins for Panathinaikos and two draws in the last five games between these two in Athens. Three of those five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Panathinaikos vs Asteras Tripolis: Prediction
Panathinaikos are considered favourites to win, but I’m backing Asteras to earn at least a draw. I feel Asteras have the team and the motive to earn at least a draw. Yes, Panathinaikos may still finish 5th, but first, even so, most-most probably they won’t play in the Europa League next season, due to financial problems. Second, I seriously doubt next season’s Panathinaikos roster will have that many players who are at the team these days, as I expect most of them to search for better working conditions elsewhere.
Panathinaikos vs Asteras Tripolis: Betting Tips
Asteras’ double chance is at 1.70. Their win in “draw no bet” pays 2.55.
