Panathinaikos vs Real Madrid
Competition: Turkish Airlines Euroleague
Date: 19 April 2018
Time: 20:15 CET
Panathinaikos were simply sensational in the first match of the playoffs against the visiting Real Madrid, as they humiliated their opponents with a domiannt 95:67 win. The Greens entered the match completely focused at the task at hand, as they were perfect on both ends of the pitch. They managed to take a massive 20:0 lead at the first quarter, and were doing everything perfect overall. They were already up by 46:30 at the end of the first half, and essentially sealed the win with a massive third quarter, were they outscored their opponents by 31:14. There was nothing Real Madrid could do to even minimize the loss, as they fell hard against a team that has really tormented them over the years. Mike James was amazing with 24 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3/3 triples, while Nick Calathes exploded for 16 assists, 11 points, 6 rebounds and a steal. Oddly enough, no other player scored double digits, but each and every one contributed towards this massive win. The only injury problem for Panathinaikos is that of KC Rivers, who missed that match, and is still questionable.
On the other hand, Real Madrid suffered one of their biggest defeats in quite a while on Tuesday, as they looked hopeless from the beginning. The whole team was taken aback by both the loud crowd, and Panathinaikos’ excellent start to that match. Luka Doncic might be a tremendously talented player, but he is still very young, and we already knew that he was going to suffer in that match. He actually failed to score a twopointer, and finished with a mere 10 points, 1 rebound and 2 turnovers. There was nothing Real Madrid could do to stop the attacking onslaught by the Greens, who not only scored in any way that they wanted, but they also did some scary stuff on the defensive end. Besides Doncic, only Thompkins (12p, 7r) and Randolph (11p) scored in double digits, as coach Laso pulled his starters out of the game and let the bench players get some burn. Real Madrid will still be missing Kuzmic, Llull and Campazzo, and they will really need to improve ahead of the second match.

Panathinaikos vs Real Madrid: Head to Head Stats
This is a match-up that usually favors whoever is hosting, as there has not been an away win in any of the last seven matches between the two. Panathinaikos have now won each of the last four as hosts against Real Madrid.
Panathinaikos vs Real Madrid: Prediction
As we predicted, Luka Doncic and the entire Real Madrid team were intimidated by the loud home crowd of the Greeks. Not only that, but they were also destroyed on the court, and they are in for a similar atmosphere on Thursday. While Panathinaikos might not win by so much again, I still see the Greens as the big favorite to win this one.
Panathinaikos vs Real Madrid: Betting Tips
Real Madrid will surely want to bounce back after that hard loss, but it will be really tough for them to be competitive with absences to key players. They might not lose by that much again, but Panathinaikos proved that they can easily cover a much bigger spread than they are given. I will go with the home team again with -3.5 @ 1.88.
