Persepolis vs Nasaf Qarshi
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 13 February 2018
Kick-off: 14:45 CET
Persepolis won the championship in Iran last season, and mathematically it’s almost certain that they will win it this season as well, as there are seven matches left, and they are leading by 16 whole points. Last Wednesday they beat Sanat Naft 3-0 away from home, having the score at 2-0 by the 27th minute. As Iran champions, obviously they didn’t need to worry about qualifying rounds and playoffs before reaching the AFC Champions League group stage. This is their seventh appearance in Asia’s biggest football competition (at club level). Last season they made it to the semifinals, but Al Hilal proved too good for them, beating them 4-0 in the first leg. That left Persepolis with a mountain to climb. All they managed in the return leg (both games were played at neutral venues) was a 2-2 draw.
Persepolis have been playing regularly these last weeks, which is not the case for Nasaf Qarshi. The championship season in Uzbekistan hasn’t started yet. Their playoff encounter with Al Faisaly last week was their first official match since late November. They won 5-1, dominating from start to finish. The goal they conceded came in added time, when everything had already been decided. They finished second in last season’s championship in Uzbekistan, behind champions Lokomotiv Tashkent. This is their sixth appearance in the AFC Champions League. Last season they got eliminated by Al Fateh in the playoffs, seeing their AFC CL campaign come to an end very-very early. The two seasons before that, they had played in the group stage, failing both times to make it to the last 16.

Persepolis vs Nasaf Qarshi: Head to head Stats
Persepolis have faced two teams from Uzbekistan in the past, but not Nasaf Qarshi.
Persepolis vs Nasaf Qarshi: Prediction
Any other result but a Persepolis win will be a major surprise. I expect them not just to pick up all three points, but to do so comfortably.
Persepolis vs Nasaf Qarshi: Betting Tips
A simple Persepolis win pays 1.36, low. For something much better, I would gamble with “Persepolis and over 2.5 combined goals”, at 2.40. “Over 2.5 goals” alone pays 2.07, but I can’t imagine this game going over 2.5 without Persepolis winning it.
