Platanias vs PAS Giannina
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 18 February 2018
Kick-off: 14:00 CET
I felt Platanias were doomed last weekend at Panetolikos even before the game started, Panetolikos’ win and their “over 1.5” were my two tips, and Platanias lost indeed, 3-0. Their coach, Hatzinikolaou, talking to reporters after the match, said that if they hadn’t missed an in-cre-di-ble chance to equalise in the 28th minute, when Panetolikos were still leading 1-0, things would have been different. Possibly, but that was Platanias’ first and last real chance to score. Huge one, I repeat, incredible one, but… one. They remain at the bottom of the table, on just 10 points from 21 matches. Both Kerkyra and Apollon Smyrnis, the teams right above Platanias in the table, earned a point last week, so an already extremely tough situation for them, became… almost unbearable. They keep hoping for a miracle, until they run out of mathematical chances to avoid relegation.
MVP of the 21st game week, “best goal” award as well, Pedro Conde was the man of the match (and not only) last weekend when PAS Giannina hosted Panathinaikos, scoring twice in the first half. Basically, he was everything Panathinaikos lacked; a real striker, a real and really gifted striker. PAS allowed their visitors a goal in the second half, but they didn’t really get threatened in the last 15 minutes. In added time, when Vellidis, their goalkeeper, had to intervene, he did, without sweating that much. PAS Giannina climbed 8th in the table, they are six points behind 5th-placed Panionios, and… they are still in with a chance to reach them, generally to finish 5th, a spot that could give a Europa League ticket, depending on what happens in the Greece Cup as well. As for Pedro Conde, after last weekend’s game he said he wants to keep evolving as a player. If you follow the Greece Super League previews here regularly, you may remember me write that having such a player is a blessing for PAS, a luxury, he deserves to be playing for a much better/bigger team/club.

Platanias vs PAS Giannina: Head to head Stats
One win for Platanias, two for PAS, and two draws, in the last five games between these two in Crete. Three of those five matches stayed under 2.5 goals.
Platanias vs PAS Giannina: Prediction
PAS Giannina have a… history of under-performing right after big results, but from that, to see them be considered underdogs in this match, against this opponent, I feel the distance is chaotic. I’m backing them to win, not just to avoid defeat.
Platanias vs PAS Giannina: Betting Tips
PAS Giannina’s win pays 2.75. In “draw no bet”, it’s at 1.90 betting odds. My main tip though is Giannina’s “over 1.5”. It pays 3.40(!!), and I can see Pedro Conde deliver on his own, without necessarily another PAS player scoring.
