Sale Sharks vs London Irish
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 15 September 2017
Kick off: 21:00 CET
Not only have the Sale Sharks lost their first two encounters in the season, they have lost them with bonus points both times; a really frustrating feeling. They now face a newly promoted team who have more wins than them.
London Irish have hardly disgraced themselves with their reintroduction into the big leagues of England with a win, in their opening round – although their away game against the defending champions was less than pleasant. Taking on the famous Harlequins, even at home, London Irish were expected to struggle against a side packed with England stars but they ran in the tries and won by 10 points in a 39-29 victory. The visit to Sandy Park in Exeter was less pleasing as they only managed the one try there in a 37-7 defeat as the defending champions rebounded from their first round defeat. Sale, at home, will pose a threat, but it will still be a game that the irish will feel is well within their grasps and it will be a huge moral boosting win for the season.
Sale’s season has been one frustration after another. There was also high hopes for them to do well after a big recruitment drive and a new owner with big money, but they have been left high and dry. They have managed to to lose both, but pick up two points in the meantime which is at least helping them stay off the bottom of the log. Their first game was against the free flowing Wasps and in that game it was a huge smashing, but they managed to get some ascendancy on the score sheet with a 5-35 loss. But the next game would have really irked them because, being at home, they lost to the Newcastle falcons by one point in a very tense and tight affair, 12-13.

Sale Sharks vs London Irish: Head to Head Stats
There is no doubting that Sale have had the better run of results in this game as they have won six of the last 10 encounters. There have been three wins for the Irish in those 10, as well as a draw. However, the Sale wins have all been pretty big recently – between 12 and 28 points.
Sale Sharks vs London Irish: Prediction
Sale are close to breaking their luck and they will feel that this has to be the game to do it. Irish are a smaller team and one that has been in the lower leagues while Sale are at home and also historically stronger than the Irish. Expect an easy win for them.
