Sol de America vs Nacional Asuncion
Competition: Paraguay Apertura
Date: 18 May 2018
Kick-off: 01:45 CET
Sol de América were… half relieved and half enraged by the end of their game versus Libertad on Monday, a game in which they were losing 3-1 until the 80th minute, but managed to salvage a point (3-3). Relieved, obviously because they avoided defeat. Enraged, because the same four referees who officiated their game at Olimpia earlier this season, sending off their goalkeeper in the first half for wasting time(!), the same referees, didn’t even give a warning to Libertad players for wasting time. Same referees, same “offense”, dramatically different approach. Sol’s coach, Héctor Marecos, admitted that the second round of the Apertura hasn’t gone well for his team, citing the Copa Sudamericana return leg at Independiente Medellín as probable explanation, a rather… ridiculous one, since the return leg against the Colombian side was just one game, last week, while Sol’s poor form has been going on for weeks now. They haven’t won in six games, losing four in a row.
Last Saturday, Olimpia lost 1-0 to Cerro Porteño, getting stuck at 40 points. A day later, Nacional hosted a very-very troubled Sportivo Luqueño. Before kick-off, Nacional had two games in hand, compared to Olimpia, and a 10-point gap on them. Winning those two games (over Luqueño at home, and this one in Villa Elisa, the… missing game to have the first 17 game weeks complete), Nacional would be just four points behind Olimpia, with five games left for each team. How did they do against Luqueño? Lost 0-2… They still have this game in hand, still possible to close the gap on Olimpia, somewhat, but… they don’t deserve to win the Apertura, they don’t even deserve to be considered contenders. If they hadn’t won that game over Independiente de Campo Grande (because Inde fielded an ineligible player), if their 4-0 humiliation in that game had stood, they would be 13 points behind Olimpia today.

Just one win for Sol, two for Nacional, and two draws, in the last five games between these two with Sol as hosts.
Sol de America vs Nacional Asuncion: Prediction
Sol and Nacional are given even chances to win the game. Personally, I’m leaving winners and losers aside, I’m focusing on goals.
Sol de America vs Nacional Asuncion: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5”, at 1.90, looks awesome to me. The – big – majority of Sol games in 2018 have had at least three goals (many times way more than that), and Nacional are anything but goal-shy either. At 1.90, I feel it’s more than worth the risk.
