Sportivo Luqueno vs Sol de America
Competition: Paraguay Apertura
Date: 9 June 2018
Kick-off: 01:40 CET
Sportivo Luqueño beat 3 de Febrero 2-0 in Ciudad del Este on Monday, a rather… harsh result for the hosts. Luqueño’s first goal was an own-goal scored by Delio Ojeda in the 33rd minute, and their second one came in the 79th, exactly when 3 de Febrero were stepping up their efforts to equalize. Precious win for Luqueño, rare win in this Apertura tournament, which improved their “promedio”, their average. They remain 10th in that table, right above the relegation line, but… honestly, it’s hard to imagine them having a Clausura as horrible as their Apertura. If they do the basics, they should stay above the relegation line, letting 3 de Febrero and Deportivo Santaní get relegated. Julio dos Santos got seriously injured against Cerro Porteño something over a week ago, but looks unwilling to get operated. Luqueño’s doctor says the problem can be overcome without operation, but it’s hard to assess when he’ll be back. Sergio Raúl Vergara, one of Luqueño’s full-backs, agreed terms with Olimpia on Wednesday, something that didn’t go down well with the people at Luqueño. He had every right to, but Luqueño’s people expected him to make it official with Olimpia after the end of the Apertura, not before their last match. According to reports, he’ll be left out of this game.
Sol de América have a new-old coach. Argentine Fernando Ortiz worked at the Villa Elisa club last year as well, leading the team in a total of 30 matches (10 victories, 12 draws, eight defeats), in the Apertura, the Clausura, and the Copa Sudamericana. He is succeeding Héctor Marecos. Ortiz spend half this Apertura tournament working at Sportivo Luqueño, but with very little success. Sol beat General Díaz 4-3(!) on Monday, having an incredible start in the second half. In the first 20 minutes, it felt like professionals were playing against amateurs, with the score going from 1-0 to 4-0(!). César Villagra scored a hat-trick between the 54th and the 62nd minute(!). Sol almost shot their own foot, allowing three goals to General Díaz. They are 6th in the table, with a clear target, earn a Copa Sudamericana ticket. Defender Iván Villalba got sent-off on Monday and is unavailable.

Sportivo Luqueno vs Sol de America: Prediction
I’m not even considering betting on winners and losers in this game, both Sportivo Luqueño and Sol de América are the very definition of “unpredictable”. I definitely like the chances of “over 2.5 goals”, though.
Sportivo Luqueno vs Sol de America: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 goals” pays a decent 1.85, and feels very probable to me, keeping in mind that Sol’s last three games had a total of 14 goals(!).
