Ulsan Hyundai vs Shanghai SIPG
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 13 March 2018
Kick-off: 11:00 CET
Jeonbuk Motors are the Korean side that attract most of the fans’ attention in the AFC Champions League, but Ulsan Hyundai have proved that they deserve to be taken seriously. A win at home and two draws on the road have them second in the group table, looking very good, as they now have two games as hosts to stay second, not necessarily finish first. Last week, in China, they would have won, if it weren’t for Oscar, the Brazilian who seems determined to do anything possible to return to his national team ahead of the World Cup finals. Last weekend, Ulsan lost to Sangju Sangmu(!), 2-0 at home(!), a totally unexpected result. They are without a point after their first two matches in the K-League, and the… craziest of all is that they haven’t scored there yet, despite having seven goals in three AFC CL group matches.
“You can’t handle a tight schedule where you play one game every three days, so for our next Asian Champions League game we will adjust our lineup”. This is what Vitor Pereira, Shanghai SIPG’s Portuguese coach told reporters after his team’s 2-0 win over city rivals Shanghai Shenhua last weekend. What kind of “adjustment” will that be? It remains to be seen. He was rather secretive about it, for obvious reasons. SIPG were lucky to have Oscar at his best last week, or else they wouldn’t have earned that point against Ulsan. The Brazilian scored two great goals, one more impressive than the other. He doesn’t hide his ambition to be recalled to Brazil’s national team, and he’s giving his best to Shanghai SIPG hoping his goals and good performances won’t go unnoticed. SIPG are leading in the group, and if they manage to leave Korea undefeated, they should go on not just to qualify but to finish first as well.

Ulsan Hyundai vs Shanghai SIPG: Prediction
Shanghai SIPG are considered clear favourites to win the game, but I wouldn’t bet on that, for the simple reason that they don’t need to win, a simple draw will be just fine by them. Without a second thought, I’m backing Ulsan to earn at least a draw.
Ulsan Hyundai vs Shanghai SIPG: Betting Tips
Ulsan’s double chance pays 1.66, and I absolutely love it. Their win in “draw no bet” is at 2.25 betting odds.
