Ulster vs Dragons
Competition: Guinness Pro14
Date: 22 September 2017
Kick off: 20:35
Ulster will feel very confident that they can keep their flawless run of wins going when they take on the Dragons at home, but they should be a little wary as the Dragons were the only Welsh side to win at the weekend.
Ulster are one of a few teams to have picked up three wins in three games at the start of the season. They had two easy openers to be fair, as they took on the newly added South African side the Cheetahs and then they traveled away to take on Treviso However, while those games ended in wins, and a big 23 point win against the Cheetahs, they will be happiest with their most recent result. They welcomed the defending champion Scarlets to Ireland and in a tight and fascinating game, the Ulster men came out on top by one converted try in a 27-20 victory. It is a great result as the Scarlets were always going to be a threat, and it is a result that will show Ulster they have what it takes to put down the small teams, as well as the big teams.
For the Dragons, they were in desperate need of a win having lost their first two matches to Leinster and then to Edinburgh, but when they beat Connacht at home it was a good result. No other Welsh team won on the weekend so they held up their end, and in a personal capacity, it was a win that will put them in a much better space. They lost by a big 23 point margin against Leinster in the opening game – and that was at home. They then traveled to Edinburgh to face the Scottish side, but also lost badly there by 17 points in a game they would have thought they could win. The it was a 21-8 win against Connacht which was a much better display, even with the home ground advantage.
