3 de Febrero vs Libertad
Competition: Paraguay Apertura
Date: 4 March 2018
Kick-off: 23:50 CET
3 de Febrero had conceded just two goals in three matches before visiting Sol de América last weekend, three games that included clashes against Cerro Porteño and Nacional Asunción (plus, an away game at Deportivo Santaní). They took the lead at Sol, but… amazingly, they conceded four goals(!), twice as many as they had in their three previous games combined. They committed more defensive mistakes than what they had committed in three weeks, looking absolutely nothing like the team that drew 1-1 at home to reigning champions Cerro Porteño, and 0-0 at Nacional, just a week earlier. Then again, they are a newly-promoted side, and I guess this sort of ups and downs are to be expected. Two points from their first four matches looks like a poor tally, but do keep in mind they have only played once at home, three games were on the road, and even that home game was against mighty Cerro.
Last weekend, I was surprised to see Libertad be considered favourites to beat Cerro Porteño. Yes, they had (and still have) more points than them, but the football they had played, the name of the opponent, even the venue (the game was not held at Libertad’s home, but at much larger Defensores del Chaco), all these details combined made me feel that Libertad had little chance of beating Cerro Porteño. Having watched the game from the stands, I’m left with the impression that Libertad were extremely lucky to get that 1-1 draw. Actually, it wasn’t a matter of luck, but of having Rodrigo Muñoz between their sticks. The Uruguayan goalkeeper was magnificent, he had five or six fantastic saves, and he only got beaten by Diego Churín in the 79th minute, because he expected one of his two defenders who were… stuck on Churín on the edge of the small box to do enough to prevent him from winning that header. Libertad are one of the only two undefeated teams in the Apertura, they are on eight points from four matches, second in the table behind leaders Olimpia, but excluding their home game against Guaraní (where every single detail went their way), they haven’t really impressed with their football.

3 de Febrero vs Libertad: Head to head Stats
3 de Febrero last hosted Libertad in 2014, twice. They beat them 2-0, and lost 2-0 as well.
3 de Febrero vs Libertad: Prediction
Libertad are considered big favourites to pick up all three points, but in this particular match, I’m backing the underdogs to earn at least a draw, encouraged by their gutsy performance in their only previous home game, against Cerro Porteño (1-1).
3 de Febrero vs Libertad: Betting Tips
3 de Febrero’s double chance pays 2.20. If you’re thinking that this is a suicide, you may be right, but I can’t help it, I do feel the newly-promoted have what it takes to oblige Libertad to drop points.
