AC Milan vs Austria Vienna
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 23 November 2017
Kick-off: 21:05 CET
A wall. That’s what AC Milan fell onto in their two games against AEK Athens. Two goalless draws, in two matches that saw Milan create few chances. Their coach, Montella, went through a very tough period, with his job on the line practically in every single game. Somehow he has… survived, despite the fact that the Rossoneri are just 7th in Italy’s Serie A, having disappointed with their performances in many of their games so far. They are leading in the Europa League group, two points ahead of second-placed AEK, and even a draw against Austria Vienna should be enough to see them through to the last 32 of the competition, since it’s rather unlikely that AEK lose to Rijeka in Athens. Still, Milan need to improve, at all fronts, or else they risk seeing their Europa League season cut short, in February, and even getting left out of the Serie A positions that lead to international football next season.
Ironically, under certain circumstances, not even a draw in this match would be enough for Austria Vienna to retain their mathematical chances of finishing in the top-2. They are four points behind Milan, and two behind AEK. A single point would mean very little, if AEK beat Rijeka in Athens, getting them beyond Austria’s reach. In two weeks, the Austrian side will be hosting AEK, to whom they drew 2-2 in Athens. As long as the gap between them is up to three points, Austria will be in the game. Keeping in mind though that they have already gotten thrashed by Milan at home, 5-1, on the opening day of the group stage, it’s hard to imagine them improve that much as to get a positive result at San Siro. Last Friday they lost 3-2 at home to Admira, getting left 6th in Austria’s championship. It’s interesting to note that their only win in their last eight official matches, was that 4-1 triumph at Rijeka, three weeks ago.

AC Milan vs Austria Vienna: Head to head Stats
Their game earlier this season, was the first ever between these two.
AC Milan vs Austria Vienna: Prediction
Austria’s defence is nothing like AEK’s, so I’m backing Milan, even this unreliable Milan, not just to win, but to score enough to push the game over 2.5 goals.
AC Milan vs Austria Vienna: Betting Tips
A simple AC Milan win pays just 1.30, but combined with over 2.5 goals this goes up to a kind of decent 1.70. Milan and over 3.5 goals pays much-much better, 2.50, but obviously the risk involved is considerably bigger, despite the fact that the game between these two in Vienna had six goals.
