AEL Larissa vs Levadiakos
Competition: Greek Super League
Date: 20 February 2017
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
“We are holding our fate in our own hands. We are not going to get relegated, as long as we take advantage of our home games, and the favourable schedule we have ahead of us”. This is what Larissa’s coach, Tsiolis, said last week after his team’s loss to Olympiakos in Piraeus, and if there was one specific match he had in mind when he pronounced those words, one specific match more than any other, it’s this one against Levadiakos. Larissa will be without French defender Thicot, a big blow for the home team. The injury he picked up is said to be bad enough to keep him out until the end of the season.
It doesn’t look good for Levadiakos, it doesn’t look good at all. Last time they won a game it was the 1st of December, they have scored just one goal in their last five matches (and even then, they lost), and, just to make things even worse, one of their key-men, Greek striker Mantzios, missed training sessions towards the end of the week due to an injury, and his presence against Larissa is doubtful. At Levadiakos they know this is a “six-points” match, in the sense that a win and the three points that come with that, would be against a direct rival in the battle they are giving to avoid relegation.
AEL Larissa vs Levadiakos: Head-to-head Stats
The first round game at Livadia had no winner (1-1). Last time Larissa hosted Levadiakos it was in 2010, as the two teams were playing in different categories these last years. One win for Larissa, one for Levadiakos, and a draw, in their last three clashes with Larissa as the home team.
AEL Larissa vs Levadiakos: Prediction
This is Larissa’s golden chance to make a huge step towards avoiding relegation. They sit two spots and three points higher than Levadiakos, and this is really it, this could prove to be the match of the season for them. The fact that they’ll be hosting Levadiakos, the league’s weakest team away from home, lays the ground for a vastly important win, which, even if they have to struggle until the last minutes, they should be able to grab.
AEL Larissa vs Levadiakos: Tips
Betting companies agree that Larissa are the favourites to win, and the odds they’re offering are pretty decent. A “Larissa or draw” pays little, but it’s one of those bets that look almost impossible to go bad (almost). An 1-0 Larissa win seems to be considered the most probable score by the betting companies, and indeed, given the significance of the match, it’s hard to imagine more than one goal scored.
