AEL Limassol vs Aris
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 1 August 2019
Kick-off: 19:00 CET
AEL’s target in Thessaloniki last week was very clear from the very first minutes, when you could see their players waste time any way possible. Especially their goalkeeper… excelled throughout the match, assisted by the referee’s tolerance. Vozinha should have seen a yellow card even in the first half. He finally did in added time, the… 15th time he delayed to restart the match after the ball had gone out. AEL finished the first leg on six attempts, just one on target, but could have scored, soon after Ghazaryan was sent in, in the 63rd minute. The Armenian had an awesome shot on the horizontal post. He was by far the most dangerous AEL player. The Limassol side earned what they wanted, a draw, despite being second best on the pitch practically throughout the match.
This game is of massive importance not just for Aris and AEL, but for Greek and Cypriot football in general. Right now, Cyprus are 15th in UEFA’s ranking, one spot higher than Greece. Whoever finishes this season 16th, will feel the pinch in a couple of years, when they’ll have “only” four teams, instead of five, in UEFA competitions, and only one in the Champions League qualifiers, instead of two. So, Aris are about to play in Cyprus not just for their own future in the Europa League this season, not only for their own… UEFA aspirations these next years, but for all Greek teams’ UEFA… dreams in the foreseeable future. The Thessaloniki side had two shots on the post last week, finished the game on 17 attempts, nine of those on target, and generally deserved to win, I reckon.

I expect Aris to qualify, not necessarily winning the game.
AEL Limassol vs Aris: Betting Tips
Aris’ win pays 2.25. If you find this, my real top choice is their double chance, combined with “over 1.5”, at 1.95.
