Al Hilal Riyadh vs Esteghlal Khuzestan
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 30 May 2017
Kick-off: 21:30 CET
‘Encouraged’ by the fact that the game last week was being held in Oman, at a neutral venue, and not in Iran, I backed Al Hilal to win, expecting the match to have at least three goals. The Saudi Arabian won indeed, 2-1, coming from behind to score two goals in the 52nd and the 57th minute. This game is being held at Doha, since, as I have already mentioned several times earlier this AFC Champions League season, Saudi Arabian and Iranian sides don’t visit each other, for anything but football-related reasons. The ‘hosts’ need to put in a simply decent performance. That should be enough for them to qualify. There is no doubt they are a much-much better team.
Esteghlal Khuzestan must be satisfied with the simple fact that they qualified from the group stage. No one will really blame them if they fail to kick Al Hilal out of the competition. What they have already achieved, is rather more than what most people expected from them in this edition of the AFC Champions League. Beating Al Hilal 2-0, or even 2-1, to take the tie to extra time, looks almost impossible. The Iranians should be glad if they just manage to give the Saudis a hard time, so as to leave the competition with their heads held as high as possible.
Al Hilal Riyadh vs Esteghlal Khuzestan: Head-to-head Stats
Last week’s game which Al Hilal won 2-1, was the first ever between these two teams.
Al Hilal Riyadh vs Esteghlal Khuzestan: Prediction
Al Hilal have won their last six games in all competitions, scoring at least two goals in each match. They have also conceded in every single of those last six games, which makes them a very… entertaining team to watch. Esteghlal Khuzestan have zero wins in their last five games, and it will take a small miracle to win this one. Everything considered, I’m repeating my last week’s prediction, I’m backing Al Hilal to win and the game to have at least three goals.
Al Hilal Riyadh vs Esteghlal Khuzestan: Tips
Al Hilal’s wins doesn’t pay more than 1.40, but combining a win of theirs and at least three goals scored in the game, the potential earnings go considerably higher.
