Al Hilal vs Persepolis
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 26 September 2017
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
First things first; if you’ve been following regularly the AFC Champions League match previews here, you already know this game is not actually held in Riyadh, Al Hilal’s real home, but at a neutral venue (in this case, Adu Dhabi), since teams from Saudi Arabia and Iran don’t visit each other, “for reasons that have nothing to do with football”, as I have written several times before, this season. Al Hilal remain unbeaten in ten Champions League games since February, they have won six and drawn four, but interestingly, two of those four draws were against Persepolis in the group stage, both games being held at neutral venues. Almost a week ago, Al Hilal drew 1-1 at Al Ittihad, their first dropped points in the new Saudi Arabia championship season after three wins. They are first in the table, the only team on 10 points from four matches.
Persepolis haven’t been as impressive as Al Hilal in their previous ten Champions League matches this season, they’ve won only four games, they have lost at Al Rayyan in the group stage, but, important “but”, as previously mentioned, despite being considered outsiders against Al Hilal, they have already drawn twice this season against them, playing at neutral venues in the group stage. This “neutral venues” detail proved huge in the quarterfinals against Al Ahli, another team from Saudi Arabia. Persepolis drew 2-2 in the first leg at “home”, but beat Al Ahli 3-1 in Abu Dhabi in the return leg. Their last game was almost a week ago, at Sepahan, they drew 2-2, and are currently sitting second in the table of Iran’s championship on 14 points from seven matches, three points below leaders Pars Jam Bushehr.

Al Hilal vs Persepolis: Head to head Stats
One win for Al Hilal and one draw in the two previous games between these two with Al Hilal as hosts. This specific game though is held in the United Arab Emirates, not in Saudi Arabia.
Al Hilal vs Persepolis: Prediction
Al Hilal are considered relatively clear favorites to win, but I have serious doubts.
Al Hilal vs Persepolis: Betting Tips
Between Al Hilal’s win (2.10) and Persepolis’ double chance at 1.70, I prefer the latter, keeping in mind that the game is not really held in Riyadh, but in neutral Abu Dhabi.
