Alianza Lima vs Boca Juniors
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 2 March 2018
Kick-off: 01:30 CET
Alianza Lima won the championship in Peru last season, earning a direct ticket to the Copa Libertadores group stage. Last weekend they beat Universitario 3-1 in Lima’s huge derby, a result though that even their goalkeeper called “deceiving”. Alianza went 1-0 down in the 31st minute, equalised just before half time, got saved in numerous occasions by Leao Butrón, their keeper, and took the lead only in the 80th minute from the penalty spot. Their third goal came in added time. All these details made Butrón call that final 1-3 a rather “deceiving” result. They are on seven points from four matches in the new Peruvian championship, having won both games away from home, but none of the two as hosts. On another note, Alianza decided to set the match ticket prices for Boca Juniors fans that high as if this match were a UEFA Champions League final. Boca complained, both to Alianza and CONMEBOL, and the last episode before these lines were written was that Boca’s barrabravas “warned” Alianza that they will show up at the stadium even without tickets, whatever that means…
Boca Juniors won the championship last season in Argentina, and the way things are going, they will be celebrating a “repeat” at the end of the ongoing season. Last weekend they beat San Martín de San Juan 4-2 at home, remaining clear leaders, nine points ahead of second-placed Talleres Córdoba. What seems to be… fascinating their fans the most, is that they are 24 whole points ahead of River Plate, having more than double their points. Guillermo Barros Schelotto took Carlos Tévez with him to Lima, despite his injury on Sunday. According to reports, “El Apache” will play, even if he needs to get an injection before the game, to ease the pain (the problem is on his shoulder). Central midfielder Nahitan Nández is unavailable because of a ban he has been carrying since his Peñarol days. He will miss not only this game, but the next two as well. Other than that, defender Paolo Goltz is a doubt. If he can’t play, it’s Santiago Vergini the one who will most probably take his place in the starting lineup.

Alianza Lima vs Boca Juniors: Head to head Stats
Incredible. Alianza Lima have hosted Boca Juniors just once before, more than half a century ago(!). It was in 1966, a Copa Libertadores group stage game, which Boca won 1-0.
Alianza Lima vs Boca Juniors: Prediction
Boca Juniors are considered clear favourites to win the game. I expect Alianza Lima to look extra motivated playing against such a big rival, but Boca to find a way to leave Peru with all three points.
Alianza Lima vs Boca Juniors: Betting Tips
A simple Boca win pays 1.55. Their victory combined with a clean sheet is at 2.37 betting odds. Leaving that weird game against San Martín San Juan aside, they had received just one goal in four games starting in late January and going until last weekend.
