America Mineiro vs Cruzeiro
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 4 November 2018
Kick-off: 20:00 CET
To call this game “huge” for América Mineiro, would be an understatement. Back-to-back(-to-back-to-back…) poor results have pushed them right-right above the relegation line, having three teams eager to leave them behind them. Plus, this is a local derby, in Belo Horizonte. It’s not the biggest derby in the city, but still, it’s a game that… matters more than others, at least for the fans. Some of those, gathered outside the team’s training ground on Friday, angry, “demanding” improvement on the field. América players have been saying all week they are fully conscious of the situation, “sounding” ready to… bleed, if needed, to win this game. They haven’t won any of their last eight, and last week they lost 1-0 at Chapecoense, a direct rival in the fight to avoid relegation.
Cruzeiro center-back Léo was asked what’s the team’s target in the remainder of the season, having already won the Copa do Brasil, and secured a spot in next season’s Copa Libertadores group stage. His answer was… honest(?). Clubs in Brazil earn money depending on their final position in the table. Cruzeiro, currently, are sitting 9th. To earn much more than what they’ll earn finishing there, they need to finish in the top-5. It looks super hard, almost impossible, but… according to Léo, that’s their target, finish as high as possible, so as to earn the club more money. Plus, obviously, there is a personal motive for each player; the better they finish the season, the better their chances to earn a better contract, either at Cruzeiro, or somewhere else. Last weekend, the “Fox” beat Paraná 3-1 at home. The only surprise was that they conceded that goal.

America Mineiro vs Cruzeiro: Head to head Stats
One win for América, one draw, and three wins for Cruzeiro, in the last five games between these two with América as hosts.
America Mineiro vs Cruzeiro: Prediction
América are the ones with the much bigger motive here, but I find it very hard to back them to win. They have won just one of their last seven home games. Cruzeiro on the other hand, haven’t won any of their last 10(!) away from home.
America Mineiro vs Cruzeiro: Betting Tips
