Anderlecht vs Spartak Trnava
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 29 November 2018
Kick-off: 18:55 CET
It’s… impressive how badly this group campaign has gone for Anderlecht; defeat at Spartak Trnava in September, defeat at home to Dinamo Zagreb in October (failing to score in both matches), draw at home with Fenerbahce, 2-0 loss in Turkey three weeks ago, one point from four matches, poor, poor, poor… They are out, mathematically. Even if they win their last two games, and Fenerbahce lose both, so, even if they finish level on points with the Turkish side, they won’t be in the top-2, it’s Fener who have the advantage over them. Last weekend they got embarrassed at Sint-Truiden(!), lost 4-2, but none of the three teams higher than them in the table in Belgium’s championship won, so… things could have been worse. They are fourth there, five points behind leaders Genk.
The group stage started the best way possible for Spartak Trnava, with a home win over Anderlecht, one of the favorites – theoretically – to finish in the top-2. Ever since then, Spartak have lost all three games, getting stuck to those three points they earned in September. They are four behind second-placed Fenerbahce, and they are hosting them in two weeks, so… not all hope is lost for them. They depend on Dinamo Zagreb though. They need the Croatian side to earn at least a draw in Istanbul this week. In Slovakia’s championship, Spartak are just 6th, 22 whole points behind leaders Slovan Bratislava. Actually, they have less than half Slovan’s points, 18 to 40!

Anderlecht vs Spartak Trnava: Prediction
Despite not being at their best moment, I still trust Anderlecht to win this game.
Anderlecht vs Spartak Trnava: Betting Tips
A simple Anderlecht win is at just 1.44. “Over 2.5 goals” is at 1.72. These two combined promise an even better 2.10. I won’t be surprised if Spartak score, actually I’m counting on them to do exactly that, but I still expect them to lose.
