Apollon Smyrnis vs Atromitos
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 1 December 2018
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Giannis Matzourakis didn’t start the season as Apollon Smyrnis coach, he took over after the team’s debut in the Super League, and didn’t last until the winter break. The club thanked him for his effort, but still let him off, after their 5-1 defeat at Panathinaikos last weekend. Babis Tennes is Apollon’s new coach, “new-old” coach, as he has worked for them before, and actually in more than one period. Center-back and captain Michalis Kyrgias got injured and is unavailable. Apollon are on just one point from 11 matches, top-top favorites to get relegated at the end of the season. According to reports, several players will leave during the winter transfer period, so as to… lighten the budget (and also “get rid of” players who didn’t come even close to delivering on what was expected from them).
At some point, they would lose… Up until last weekend, there were two teams left undefeated in the Super League, leaders PAOK and second-placed Atromitos. The latter, lost 1-2 at home to Olympiakos, taking the lead late in the first half, getting equalized right after the restart, and conceding the second goal in added time. They had been playing with 10 men since the 57th minute, when Azer Bušuladžić had seen a second yellow card. The defensive midfielder is obviously unavailable this weekend. More bad news for coach Damir Canadi is that Hungarian center-forward Roland Ugrai is still unavailable due to injury. Atromitos remain second in the table, on 24 points, five behind leaders PAOK, and one above third-placed Olympiakos.

Apollon Smyrnis vs Atromitos: Head to head Stats
Two Atromitos wins at Apollon Smyrnis the last four years. Before that, they hadn’t visited them since 2005.
Apollon Smyrnis vs Atromitos: Prediction
I am very-very surprised to see Atromitos’ win pay 1.83(!). They are second in the table, having played some awesome football these last months, and are visiting a team that has earned one point from 11 matches. Sure, Ugrai is out, but Atromitos do not depend on one player. Risking eating my own words, I share my impression that this 1.83 is almost too good to be true. Anything can happen in a football game, but… if there is any “logic” in this sport, it “says” that Atromitos will win this game, unless… crazy things happen (early red card, penalty given to Apollon, a dozen missed chances by Atromitos, etc).
Apollon Smyrnis vs Atromitos: Betting Tips
Atromitos’ win at 1.83 is definitely my main tip. Efthymis Koulouris has been hot since… August, scoring almost non-stop. “Koulouris to score anytime” is at 2.62.
