Argentinos Juniors vs Aldosivi
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 9 December 2018
Kick-off: 23:20 CET
Alexis Mac Allister’s free-kick in the 53rd minute was super cleverly taken, produced Argentinos Juniors’ first goal in 10(!!) matches, and proved enough to earn them all three points. Later on, they were super lucky to see one of the assistant referees raise his flag signaling a Banfield player in an offside position. There was no offside, Banfield’s annulled goal should have counted, VAR is considered an unnecessary luxury in Argentina, so… It was El Bicho’s second win this season, first since late August(!). Raúl Sanzotti remains their interim coach. Argentinos Juniors are second-to-last in the Superliga table, and now 20th in the “promedio” table, slightly above the relegation line.
When you salvage a point in added time, especially against a big rival, you have to be left satisfied. Aldosivi were losing 1-2 to San Lorenzo at home last weekend, but Cristian Chávez (ironically, a former San Lorenzo player), equalized in added time, earning the Mar del Plata a point. They are 9th in the table, on 20 points from 14 matches, a rather impressive tally, given that Aldosivi are newly-promoted, and are facing sides way more experienced than then in the top division. If the season were over today, they would be earning a Copa Sudamericana ticket(!). Away from home, they haven’t scored in their last four matches, and have earned just one point, thanks to that goalless draw at Talleres Córdoba.

Argentinos Juniors vs Aldosivi: Head to head Stats
Very short history between these two; Aldosivi won 0-1 at La Paternal in 2015, and a year earlier Argentinos Juniors had won 1-0.
Argentinos Juniors vs Aldosivi: Prediction
The hosts are considered favorites to win. I’m not convinced, despite their victory in Banfield last weekend. I’m backing Aldosivi to earn at least a point, no matter how weak they have looked away from home the last two months.
