Aris vs Molde
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 15 August 2019
Kick-off: 20:30 CET
It all went wrong for Aris in Norway last week… They conceded back-to-back goals in the first half, and the moment their coach was about to take a risk and make his lineup more attack-minded, halfway through the second half, they were left with 10 men. The… cherry on top was that third goal they conceded in the 87th minute, that left them with a mountain to climb back home. In the Press conference after the game in Norway, Savvas Pantelidis, their coach, said he still believed they could overturn that 3-0. The atmosphere at Aris’ home is… formidable, it’s a “cage” with more than 20,000 people just a couple of meters away from the field, practically hanging over the players at corner kicks, plus, it will be super hot and humid in Thessaloniki, my guess is that Molde’s players are not used to playing under such conditions, but still, three goals… Not one, not two, but three, that’s what Aris need, plus, a… minor detail, not concede…
Molde finished the game last week on 11 attempts, Aris had nine, the Norwegians had five on target, as many as Aris, and actually the Greek side had more than double corners won. Numbers say that Molde were not that superior, but the score “says” otherwise. Truth is, Molde’s players looked lethal in front of goal, and they took perfect advantage of the fact that Aris have a mediocre goalkeeper. Julian Cuesta is really just an average goalkeeper, with good moments, no doubt, but many weaknesses as well, probably too many for a team that want to reach the group stage of a UEFA competition. No game for Aris last weekend, no game for Molde either.

Aris vs Molde: Prediction
At this point, Aris have got nothing to lose. I expect them to win, I expect more than one goal, but I don’t see them qualify.
Aris vs Molde: Betting Tips
A simple Aris win is at 1.73. Combined with “over 2.5 goals”, it pays 2.60. I have a 2-1 hunch. I can see Aris score twice, but I seriously doubt they will keep a clean sheet.
