Aris vs Panathinaikos
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 2 December 2018
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Hamza Younès did something last weekend that earned him… immortality in Aris fans’ memory; when added time started counting in Iraklio, in their away game against OFI, the Thessaloniki side were losing 1-0. The Tunisian center-forward needed something less than 80 seconds to score twice(!), and not just salvage a point for his team, but earn them all three(!). Both he and Aris’ new coach, Savvas Pantelidis, told reporters it’s time for Aris to win their first derby of the season (meaning this one against Panathinaikos). They have done very well against teams that won’t – most probably – finish in the top-8, but they have failed in every single game they’ve played thus far against teams that are strong candidates to earn UEFA competitions tickets. They finished last weekend 5th in the table, on 18 points, as many as Panathinaikos.
Giorgos Donis, Panathinaikos’ coach, spent a lot of time “studying” Aris on TV this past week, and when asked by reporters, he was full of praise for the Thessaloniki side, sitting high in the table, despite having just returned to the top division after some years in lower categories. Last weekend, Panathinaikos were awesome against Apollon Smyrnis, took perfect advantage of the fact that they were hosting the weakest team in the league, and won 5-1. It was their first win in four matches, but the previous three were against leaders PAOK in Thessaloniki, reigning champions AEK Athens, and always strong Olympiakos Piraeus. The Greens are 4th in the table, on 18 points, but be reminded, they started the season carrying a -6 from last year. With those points, they would be second(!) now.

Aris vs Panathinaikos: Head to head Stats
Aris haven’t hosted Panathinaikos since 2013. Back then, they lost 0-2 in November, and had won 1-0 in February.
Aris vs Panathinaikos: Prediction
Aris are considered favorites to win the game. Panathinaikos have lost just once this season, and that was at undisputed – thus far – leaders PAOK. Plus, they have scored more goals than any other Super League team. I doubt the Athens side will lose this game.
Aris vs Panathinaikos: Betting Tips
Panathinaikos’ win in “draw no bet” is at 2.20, and their double chance at 1.61.
