Asteras Tripolis vs PAOK
Competition: Greece Cup
Date: 25 April 2019
Kick-off: 15:00 CET
The result of the first leg in Toumba, that 2-0 PAOK win, has left Asteras Tripolis with a mountain to climb. It is not just the result, a two-goal defeat, and the fact that Asteras failed to score away from home (a 3-1 would be somewhat different), but also, probably mostly, who the visitors are; PAOK just won the championship title mathematically, their first in 34 years, and in 29 game weeks in the Super League they remain undefeated(!). They have lost this season in the Cup, but they did not pay for that. Asteras are left with the… scary task of not just beating the best team in the country, but doing so by two goals, which feels close to impossible. Last weekend they drew 1-1 with OFI in Crete, a massive result for them, as it kept them 12th in the Super League table. OFI, 13th, stayed one point behind them. All teams have one game left, and Asteras have to host relatively indifferent Panionios, holding their fate into their own hands. If they finish 12th, they avoid relegation for sure. If they drop 13th, they will have to go through playoffs.
PAOK’s… endless wait came to an end; on Sunday night they beat Levadiakos 5-0 at home, securing mathematically their first championship title in 34 years. President Ivan Savvidis, coach Razvan Lucescu, and captain Vieirinha were the main figures in the celebrations after the final whistle. The club organized a big party on the field, having agreed with the Super League to have the trophy at the stadium (they needed one point last weekend to secure the title mathematically). The season is not over though; they have two more targets: win the Cup for a third year in a row, and finish the Super League season undefeated. Their last game is in Giannina, in two weeks, against PAS, a team below the relegation line, dying for points.

Three wins for Asteras and two for PAOK in the last five games between these two in Tripoli.
Asteras Tripolis vs PAOK: Prediction
PAOK have several players injured, and they have already won the first leg 2-0. Their roster is much… fuller than that of Asteras, there are players to cover any “gap”, but… I repeat, they have won 2-0 in the first leg, so I would not bet on their win at 1.95.
Asteras Tripolis vs PAOK: Betting Tips
“Under 2.5 goals” pays 1.60, low, combined with PAOK’s double chance though, it goes up to 1.97. PAOK’s clean sheet pays better, 2.22.
