Asteras Tripolis vs PAS Giannina
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 8 December 2018
Kick-off: 16:15 CET
Two weeks ago, Giorgos Paraschos sat on Asteras Tripolis’ bench for the first time, and they beat AEL Larissa 2-0, finally a win, their first in two months. Last weekend, it was time for their first away victory of the season. They repeated the same score, 0-2, with the difference that this time they were playing with an extra man when (64’) they took the lead (Levadiakos had a player sent-of off a bit earlier). Nikos Kaltsas, one of Asteras’ key-players, told reporters Paraschos has played his part in improving the players’ psychology, saying the right words to boost their morale, having found them (something over two weeks ago) almost… feeling sorry for themselves, being totally disillusioned. These last two weeks, Asteras earned as many points (six), as they had earned in the first 10 matches combined(!). They are 11th in the table.
Last weekend had good, bad, and horrible “news” for PAS Giannina; Stefanos Athanasiadis scored his first goal of the season, which is important for every striker, send the ball in, loosen up, start finding rhythm. Bad news was that Athanasiadis’ goal was a late equalizer, not a winner, in their 1-1 draw with OFI. They dropped two points against a team lower than them in the table, and, more than that, at home. That’s always bad news. The “horrible” part had to with some of their fans, who had a banner that made many in Greece feel like puking. It was against OFI and Crete in general, a banner that went far beyond “common animosity” between fans of two clubs… The Giannina side are 13th in the table, on 11 points, having a season to forget…

Four draws and one PAS win in the last five games between these two in Tripoli.
Asteras Tripolis vs PAS Giannina: Prediction
We’ve all been there, we’ve all backed teams in good form hosting teams who seemed like a… total mess, only to see the in-form hosts fail to beat their “in-disarray” visitors, so I’m asking myself, “could clear favorites Asteras fail in this game?” Obviously, they could, that’s football, something happens in the first minutes, totally changes the… scenery, and things don’t go as expected. But given the hosts’ spectacular improvement these last two weeks under new coach Paraschos, I feel practically… obliged to trust them, back them to win.
Asteras Tripolis vs PAS Giannina: Betting Tips
The… problem with Asteras’ victory, is that it pays just 1.60. Their last two games were 2-0 wins, scoring the second goal in both matches in added time. “Asteras and under 2.5 goals” is my much riskier tip, at 2.95.
