Asteras Tripolis vs Xanthi
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 5 November 2018
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Nikos Kaltsas scored in added time last weekend to salvage a point for Asteras Tripolis at Panetolikos. A week earlier, they had lost almost in added time to Atromitos, so… it felt like fate owed them something. Midweek, playing with several reserves, they beat Trikala away from home, in a Greece Cup match. It was their second win in the group, there is one game left, but they already know they are in the next round of the competition. Asteras are on just five points from eight matches in the Super League, they have won just one game, and that was almost a month and a half ago, at home, over Apollon Smyrnis, a team that has lost all its games thus far.
Only three Super League teams have won their last three games, and Xanthi are one of those. Truth is, they weren’t against the strongest possible rivals, but even a weaker side can cause damage, and Xanthi avoided that. Midweek, they won again, in the Cup, making a big step towards qualifying for the next round. Erik Jendrišek has been doing so well this season for Xanthi, that he received a call from Slovakia’s national coach, for the first time in three and a half years. Matías Castro got injured midweek, in that Cup game at Kerkyra. He needed eight stitches on the head, but at least later exams showed that he doesn’t have a serious problem, it was just a big cut.

Asteras Tripolis vs Xanthi: Head to head Stats
One Asteras win and four(!) draws in the last five games between these two in Tripoli.
Asteras Tripolis vs Xanthi: Prediction
Very-very interesting game. I find it… remarkable that Asteras’ win is at just 1.65, despite the fact that they’ve won just one of their eight Super League matches thus far, and are hosting one of the hottest teams in the country this last month.
Asteras Tripolis vs Xanthi: Betting Tips
Xanthi’s double chance, at 2.30, looks awesome, to me, to ignore it. For the ultra conservatives, their 1.5 Asian handicap pays 1.40. It’s football, Xanthi may lose… 3-0, but the way they’ve been playing lately, and Asteras’ inability to beat anyone but bottom-of-the-table Apollon, make me feel that this 2.30 is simply too good to ignore.
