Athletico Paranaense vs Flamengo
Competition: Copa do Brasil
Date: 11 July 2019
Kick-off: 02:30 CET
Left-back Renan Lodi is no longer an Athletico Paranaense player. The 21-year-old moved to Atlético Madrid, becoming Athletico’s most expensive “sale” ever, landing the Curitiba club close to 20 million euros. Marcio Azevedo will step in, but he is nowhere near Renan Lodi’s level. Athletico signed just one player during the Copa América break, Pedro Henrique, but the 23-year-old centre-back cannot play against Flamengo, because he has already taken part in Copa do Brasil this season, wearing Corinthians’ jersey. Lucas Halter got injured during the break, but Athletico didn’t provide any update regarding his condition, and all training sessions were held behind closed doors, so it’s unclear if he can play against Flamengo. Léo Pereira and Robson Bambu are expected to start as centre-backs, with the latter having flopped in the friendly game against Cerro Porteño, committing a serious mistake in the Paraguayans’ first goal, and then giving away the penalty with which Cerro scored their second goal.
Exciting times at Flamengo… Portuguese Jorge Jesus is making his debut as their coach, having had the entire Copa América break to work with the team. One problem is Everton Ribeiro’s condition; he missed most of the training sessions these last weeks because of a tendon problem, and is expected to stay on the bench. Flamengo signed Rafinha, on his return to Brazil from Europe. The former Bayern man should be in the starting lineup, as well as Uruguayan Giorgian de Arrascaeta, whose team got eliminated rather early in Copa América, and returned to Fla’s practices earlier than expected. Flamengo are still trying to sign Filipe Luis, even though his case is much more… complicated than that of Rafinha.

Athletico Paranaense vs Flamengo: Head to head Stats
Three Athletico wins and two draws in the last five games between these two in Curitiba.
Athletico Paranaense vs Flamengo: Prediction
Super interesting game… The hosts are given a slight advantage to win, but I really like Flamengo’s chances of staying undefeated on Jorge Jesus’ debut as their coach.
Athletico Paranaense vs Flamengo: Betting Tips
Fla’s win in “draw no bet” is at 2.00. Their double chance is not paying more than 1.50, but combined with “under 3.5 goals” it goes up to a decent 1.83.
