Atletico Mineiro vs Cerro Porteno
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 6 March 2019
Kick-off: 23:15 CET
Atlético Mineiro broke a lot of hearts in Montevideo, Uruguay, on their way to the Copa Libertadores group stage. In the second round they faced Danubio, drew 2-2 at Luis Franzini, and then won 3-2 at home, sweating in the last 35 minutes, after Danubio came back from 3-0 down, to threaten the Brazilians with a real shock (3-2). Next, it was Defensor Sporting’s… turn to feel in their bones Atlético’s superiority. Win in Montevideo, 0-2, goalless draw back home in the return leg, ticket to the group stage. Midfielder Zé Welison got sent-off in the return leg against Defensor (they had to play with a man less for more than 35 minutes), and is obviously unavailable. Coach Levir Culpi avoided giving clear-clear signals of his intentions these last days, regarding who will start the game. No match for them last weekend.
Cerro Porteño were no match for Olimpia last year in Paraguay, the black and white half of Asunción celebrated both the Apertura and the Clausura titles, but the Barrio Obrero side at least finished second in the “tabla acumulada”, earning a direct ticket to the Copa Libertadores group stage. The new season in Paraguay hasn’t started… fantastically for them. Loss to Libertad at Defensores del Chaco (not even Libertad’s real home, no matter if Libertad were technically hosts that day), loss to Sportivo San Lorenzo a week ago, draw with Nacional at home, poor results. At least they avoided losing to Olimpia, in Asunción’s huge derby, salvaging a point (2-2) in added time. They are third in the table, on 17 points, five behind leaders Olimpia, who, though, have a game in hand.

Atletico Mineiro vs Cerro Porteno: Head to head Stats
Atlético have hosted Cerro twice before, but… a long time time ago; they drew 1-1 in 1972, and 2-2 in 1981.
Atletico Mineiro vs Cerro Porteno: Prediction
I wouldn’t write “shocked”, but definitely, I will be left very-very surprised if Cerro manage to leave Belo Horizonte undefeated.
Atletico Mineiro vs Cerro Porteno: Betting Tips
Given that a simple Atlético win pays less than 1.50, I would risk with the same, combined with “over 2.5 goals”, at 2.55. “Atlético and over 1.5” pays 1.87.
